Nick Faldo Retires

Farewell to a Golf Broadcasting Icon: Nick Faldo Retires from Television after 16 Years

It’s a bittersweet moment for golf fans as Nick Faldo retires from television after 16 years as lead analyst for Golf on CBS.

Faldo, known for his charm, wit, and undeniable Britishness, became a fixture on both CBS and Golf Channel, earning the respect of his colleagues and fans alike with his dedication and professionalism.

But as Faldo approaches his 65th birthday, he’s ready for a change of pace. “I’m fed up talking golf,” he said with a smirk. “TV is a great life, but I’ve been on the road since I was 18.”

Faldo has found that the demands of the industry, and the scrutiny that comes with it, have taken a toll on him.

“You think you don’t have a choice of the race you’re in, but if you’re controlling the speed of the race, you do. I want to live at my own pace.”

Nick Faldo Retires After 16 Years of Broadcasting

Faldo made the decision to retire in January, informing CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus at a meeting at Pebble Beach. “I was surprised and a little sad about it, to be honest with you,” McManus said. “Nick’s been a powerful force for CBS Sports for 16 years. But I respected his decision.”

Nick Faldo retires just six weeks before he bid a tearful goodbye to the network in early August. He officially announced his retirement on June 21.

Since then, Faldo has been enjoying a quieter life in Bozeman, Montana with his wife Lindsay. The couple has taken up residence in the town after being inspired by a binge-watching session of “Yellowstone,” and Faldo has even had the opportunity to play a round of golf with John Dutton himself (played by Kevin Costner).

The couple is currently working on their crown jewel retirement project, “Faldo Farm,” a farmhouse and ranch on 125 acres of riverfront property.

Construction has been delayed due to permit issues, but is set to resume in the spring. In the meantime, Faldo has been keeping busy with hobbies and even learning how to cook.

We will always remember Nick Faldo as a golf legend and a consummate professional on and off the course. While we will miss seeing him on our screens, we wish him all the best in his well-deserved retirement.
